The auto industry has vehicles that are both widely popular or so rare that numerous of us cannot distinguish them if we saw them driving by us. My favorite has and always will be the Lamborghini. This supercar auto maker realizes what need to go into designing something that is full of luxury and power.
The Murcielago and the Gallardo are two of their most common models. One that is moderately new to the industry is the Superleggera. This car was debuted in the 2007 Geneva Auto Show to compete against the new Ferrari 430 Scuderia. This super light model was a tribute to the very first Lamborghini model - the 350GT.
This unique model is outfitted with a reinforced intake, exhaust, and ECU that is able to push out 520 horsepower. All of this is connected to the six speed e-gear transmission that comes standard with it. This is great for numerous customers who no longer need to spend $10,000 to add it to the vehicle.
What separates this from other models is how lightweight it is. It is lighter then the majority of models by nearly 220 pounds. In order to make this feasible Lamborghini utilized carbon fiber panels for the rear diffuser, inside door panels, central tunnel, sport seats, engine cover, and the undertray.
The Lamborghini Superleggera was priced for more then $200,000 and was released to the public in June of 2007. During that time 172 units were produced and bought. Still, since that time Lamborghini has chosen to discontinue it.
