Get Professional Equipment For Less

Top spec digital SLRs can prove expensive. Not only may buying one mean that you wave
goodbye to a month’s salary – but also technology rapidly moves on. Within a matter of weeks your cutting edge equipment could be yesterday’s news. Professional help is at hand. A new equipment hire company has launched with prices so cost effective that any pro can get to grips with the likes of a Nikon D3 or Canon 1D (or 1Ds) Mark III for a day, a weekend, a week or even a year, and still come in on budget. As a time-saver you can even order online and have the latest kit delivered direct to your home or studio, leaving you to get on with the business of winning clients or fulﬁlling that commission.
Whether it makes sound ﬁnancial sense to hire or buy, Camerent supplies the very latest digital SLRs at competitive prices, and – as a further hook – will even throw in studio space
and accessories. Scant wonder business is brisk.
“As a company we’ve dealt with Canon for 15 years and our purchasing power with them is big, as we spend in excess of over two million pounds a year,” Camerent’s Director
Alan Moran reveals. “We now stock and hire high end digital SLRs and the full range of Canon and Nikon lenses.” Daily rental on a Nikon D3 is currently £68.
With expertise in photography and video, as the name indicates, business is predominantly rental. “We can provide equipment on a lease purchase, a purchase basis, or indeed a rental basis, but we also offer 12 fully kitted studios off the back of what we do.
“The advantage is that photographers can hire equipment and use it in one of our studios on our 11 different sites without having to leave the building. We’re quite unique in that we can tailor build a studio in literally minutes for someone, passing it onto the client very cost effectively.”
Another reason why Camerent is proving so word-of-mouth successful is that it is the only website out there that is transparent when it comes to listing prices. “Professionals making a choice immediately have a pretty good indication of what it’s going to cost.”
Most of Camerent’s customers opt for a three-year lease, but it can be tailored to anything from one year to ﬁve. “Rather than spending two or three thousand pounds, pros are
taking a lease over three years and going for higher value equipment in the knowledge that they’re going to have the best piece of kit to do the job and hopefully get a higher return on the work that they’re doing.”
The company also offers packages comprising a DSLR body, tripod, a Speedlight and a 700-200mm lens for just £35 on top of the body-only price.
As a result pretty much every piece of kit the company’s got is regularly out and busy – the Canon 1D or 1Ds Mark III, followed by the Nikon D3, currently proving most popular – and Camerent is investing heavily in new stock to meet the new growing demand for its services.
“We’re very pro-active,” nods Moran. “What we want to do is drum up more business so we can go out and invest in more stock and keep the ball rolling. We want to take this
market by storm.”
