Ignatius Piazza: Why Doesn't Media Make Connection Between Colorado Springs and U.S. Supreme Court Case

By: Studio98

Ignatius Piazza, the founder and director of the nation's largest gun training school - Front Sight Firearms Training Institute - asks a straightforward question: does America know what happened at Colorado Springs? The answer is that most of America likely knows that there was a shooting at Colorado Springs. But how many know that a private citizen with firearms training single-handedly ended the murderous rampage before the kill count reached further than two to the possible hundred? Probably very few. Ignatius Piazza and Front Sight are getting more and more upset with the media of today and its utter incompetence in reporting the facts of an event, especially with the U.S. Supreme Court ruling on a case which could affect the Second Amendments rights of all of America.

The U.S. Supreme Court will soon be ruling on one of the most important cases concerning Second Amendment rights in America's history. The U.S. Supreme Court will be ruling on whether or not the District of Columbia has the constitutional right to ban citizens from possessing firearms in a private sense. For those who aren't certain, the Second Amendment reads, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed." For those who aren't certain, this means that the District of Columbia has violated the constitution, and the U.S. Supreme Court will hopefully rule in direction of that conclusion.

The media, however, is doing its job throughout this desperately important period by failing to report accurately events which occur and could have ramifications on the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling. The Colorado Springs shooting which occurred recently was a terrible example of a firearm being used in the most dreadful of ways - to murder. A man entered the Colorado Springs complex of the New Life church, where there were an estimated 7,000 people just leaving services and opened fire. Two people were killed in his initial attack, but before he could do anything more, a woman by the name of Jeanne Assam, who had received firearms training, shot and killed the murderer before he could do further evil. The gun training that Jeanne Assam received taught her the vital necessity of taking down the killer before he could do more harm. The firearms training also enabled her to take him down before he could make it more than fifty feet into the church itself.

But what of this event is the media covering? Is the media covering the fact that gun training saved scores of life? Is the media making sure that all of America - including U.S. Supreme Court justices - know that firearms training is the sole reason that the Colorado Springs shooting is not a massacre? Front Sight and Ignatius Piazza say: no.

Front Sight and Ignatius Piazza have had it with the shoddy workmanship that the media is doing to convey not only the success of the hero of Colorado Springs, but also the successes of other firearms training students throughout America doing precisely what their gun training taught them to do: safeguard and protect. Front Sight is sick of it, and the contagion is spreading, America is losing faith in their news providers.
