Look Younger With Microdermabrasion

By: nlwest

Many of us find at least one thing that we can change about ourselves. It might be our hair, cup size, or the way that our skin looks. Perhaps you are pushing 50 and you want to look 40 again. Or maybe you have severe acne scars that you are trying to get rid of? You have a chance to change this by smoothing out your skin with a special treatment called microdermabrasion.

Microdermabrasion is a skin care technique that is used to give people younger, healthier, and smoother skin. Many think that it is a great alternative to plastic surgery, Botox, and even chemical peels. During this procedure tiny rough grains are applied to the top layer of the skin and are used to remove it.

There are different treatments that can be used during this procedure. Some may use salon treatments and medical procedures. Or you can use special creams and scrubs that can be used within the comforts of your own home. This procedure is usually performed on the hands, arms, face, neck, or chest. These are the crucial areas for most people and the most important when trying to look young.

The skin is made up of the dermis and the epidermis layers. The epidermis is the layer on the top part of the skin in which the dead skin cells that are lying on the surface of the layer of skin that is still growing. The top part of that layer is the stratum corneum between the skin and the world.

As you apply the creams and lotions to your skin the majority of the moisture will pass through the stratum corneum - but not everything. The moisture that is left behind can cause minor skin imperfections such as blemishes and wrinkles.

Microdermabrasion will affect the stratum corneum in order to remove these blemishes and smooth the skin. It will not work on the dermis because it is too deep into the skin and would cause a person much pain and might even damage their skin beyond repair.

Microdermabrasion is also a great procedure for people who want to clean out their pores that have been clogged by make-up and harmful pollutants in the air. People who are unable to use special acne treatments because of their sensitive skin are able to use this procedure in place of them and see positive results.

It is not uncommon for many people to use microdermabrasion for acne scars that severely affect someone’s face. However, not everyone has the ability to use it. Those with active rosacea, herpetic lesions, warts, fragile capillaries, open sores, and eczema should consider other treatments.
