World Klub first emerged as the leading Australian social/ business networking site in Australia in early 2008. While the site was first launched in Australia, it has now grown to host members from a large number of other countries around the world. World Klub commenced in style of other social/ business networking platforms but has ever since its release introduced features, which distinguish this social/ business networking site from other global players.

Is it too late to launch an Australian social/ business networking platform? World Klub management does not think so. While other large networking platforms already exist, they are predominately US and German based. World Klub is clearly distinguished from these early entrants as an Australien-based social/ business networking platform. World Klub does not regard the existing platforms as competitors because “World Klub intends to predominately capture the attention of Australian users and users in the Asia-Pacific Region. Given the emergence and economic growth of nations such as India and China, and Australia’s slow involvement on the online social/ business networking scene, World Klub management believes that the time is ripe for an Australian-based platform.

Timing indeed is very important when considering these things. The first recognizable social network site was first launched in 1997. SixDegrees.com had a short life span and failed to become profitable. The service closed in 2000 which most critics believe is attributable to the wrong timing. Back in 1997 there were many internet users but most of them were not ready for building of extended networks online. This point is re-enforced when considering the successes of many other social and business networking sites which followed the concept of SixDegrees.com, including MySpace, Facebook, Xing, Linkedin etc.

Apart from timing, it is also important to have a point of distinction. World Klub thrives on being able to generate new contacts for its members. While all networking sites claim to generate networking opportunities, most of them only serve the purpose of being a contact management tool for existing contacts. World Klub is dead set to change this trend by allowing its registered users to create business presentations and to promote their cause to other members of the online community in a non-intrusive way. By utilising its approach and these measures World Klub is bound to challenge existing market players as a fresh and online business network.
