Partition Loss While Using CHKDSK

By: Celina Dsouza

CHKDSK or Check Disk is a command on computer systems running DOS, OS/2 or Microsoft Windows operating systems that shows the file system integrity status of the hard drive. It can fix the logical errors related to the file systems like FAT and NTFS.

On computer systems running NT-based versions of Microsoft Windows operating system, CHKDSK could also check the hard disk surface for bad sectors or physical errors, a work previously done with the SCANDISK. It can also handle some errors and sometimes can recover the data.

After completing the checking process, it saves the affected file with extension of .CHK files. These files can be removed from your system in order to fix the errors.

Though it is very useful utility to work around the affected hard drive but sometimes it can make the conditions worse. It directly interacts with the file system structure, MFT (Master File Table) and directory structure. A small mistake while using CHKDSK can cause the serious problems.

The main adverse effect is the missing or lost logical partitions. After using CHKDSK, you may find one or more logical partitions of your hard drive are missing. It can cause the catastrophic situations for the user and can cause the nightmare of data loss.

It happens due to the deletion of one or more system files of MFT, directory structure and file system. When it happens, the operating system fails to recognize the particular partition and leave you in a state of data loss where you can’t see or access the logical partition that contains your most precious data.

But don’t panic. There is nothing impossible. You can get all of your lost data back along with the lost logical partitions. It can be done with the help of advanced data recovery techniques. The data recovery industry has given us a number of data recovery software to work around the data loss situations.

For Windows operating system and for this case, these data recovery software are known as Windows data recovery software. Windows data recovery software are the applications that are designed to recover the lost logical partitions and data stored on them.

These software are also called partition recovery software as they perform recovery of lost logical partitions. These data recovery software work on the basis of your Windows file system and can be varying from file system to file system.

You should always go for a partition recovery software that can support both of the Windows operating system partitions. The data recovery software should be read only and non destructive for original data recovery. Select a great data recovery software and get your data recovered just now.

Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery is the best and the most powerful partition recovery software. This data recovery software uses advanced and robust scanning algorithms to search the lost logical partitions and recovers data from it. The software doesn’t perform any write operation on the affected hard drive and does the original data recovery.

This data recovery software is capable of recovering data from both of the Windows file systems i.e. FAT and NTFS. When it comes to the Windows file version support, there is no need to worry at all. This software can recover data from all of them including Microsoft Windows Vista, XP, 2003, and 2000.
