Radiant Skin With Sculptra

By: Lisa Ortega

The field of outpatient face lifts is a growing success story in the field of medical cosmetic work, particularly for the face. For those seeking firmer and more radiant skin, there are treatment options which are minimally invasive and which do not interfere with everyday activities, requiring no down time. Very minimal symptoms after each treatment allow patients to get back to their lives in no time.

With sculptra, patients see results gradually with minimally invasive injections. With a solution comprised of Poly-L-Lactic Acid, or PLA, the collagen that has been lost over time is renewed, since the acid promotes the growth of new collagen. This fills in volume and fine lines are diminished or eradicated. Since sculptra is used in a series of treatments, usually every 4-6 months, the effects of the treatments are more gradual and so the patient can avoid any drastic changes which occur too quickly with other treatments. This helps to make any treatments appear more natural over time rather than dramatic changes that occur overnight with other treatment options.

Sculptra offers minimal side effects as well. After treatments, the skin may show some signs of swelling and there many be minor pain, but the skin is numbed prior to injections so the pain of the initial injection is not felt. Also, the numbing may last for a short period after the initial injection. Since the success rate of this treatment is high, it is growing in popularity. Many patients find that the gradual results that are evident over time are easier to acclimate to. This treatment can be used on the face as well as other areas of the body that show signs of aging. Having treatments performed on any other part of the body should be discussed with a trained cosmetic doctor who can answer your questions. Sculptra may also be used in conjunction with other forms of cosmetic skin care products, such as restylane, botox, and dermal fillers. It can also be used on patients that have undergone certain forms of cosmetic surgery and who are interested in having their skin plumped up if the surgery’s initial effects have waned.

It is important to speak with a trained dermatologist prior to undergoing any skin care treatment that may be new to you. It is always a good idea to understand any relevant risks that may be attributed to injected skin treatments. Since it will be entering the epidermis and/or dermis layer of the skin, it is a good idea to make sure that you are aware of any allergy information and to understand what specific side effects you can expect. If you understand these matters, the chances of being even more aware of your own health and being involved in the process is higher, which can result in a higher satisfaction level as well. Furthermore, it is always important to have realistic expectations so that you can remain satisfied throughout the procedure. By being involved in your treatment, sculptra can offer more benefits and satisfaction.
