By: nlwest

A halogen light bulb is incandescent that is built with a tungsten filament and that is tightly sealed into a small and compact transparent envelope. This envelope is filled with a small amount of halogen and inert gas. The life of the bulb is increased through the halogen cycle and will prevent it from getting dark when it redeposits tungsten in the inside of the bulb and than back onto the filament.

Manufacturers allow the light bulb to operate its filament with higher temperatures than that are used for the standard and more common gas filled lamp. It will also give off light that is a higher color temperature than incandescent lamps that are not halogen. Because of this they are designed to last twice as long.
