What Are Used Video Games Worth?

By: JJGames

When you are considering buying used video games, you know that you will be paying a lot less than you would for a brand new game. They are even less expensive when they are for systems like the Sega Genesis that have been superseded by new consoles.

What should be your expectations for what to pay for pre-owned games? Say you have $20 when you go to an online site for used games, how far will you be able stretch it?
How much you are going to spend will hinge on the type of system you are buying for and the specific games that you want. If the game and system are still popular (or collectible) you will pay more.

Take the Super Nintendo for instance. It is an older system, but it is also the system for some of the modern classic games. Super Mario and Donkey Kong are played on the Super Nintendo and are worth more than all the other games on the system. The classics cost between $25 and $35, while many other games are just a few dollars.

If you look at a used Nintendo 64 system, you will have fewer classic games and more less expensive ones. There are games like Mario Kart 64 that will cost more of course. With a Nintendo 64 you will be able to get a large number of games for not a lot of money.

Moving onto the Gamecube finds games that will cost a bit more, including the Mario games. Sonic the Hedgehog can also be found for the Gamecube and those games are more inexpensive. There are many other Gamecube games are very cheap.

The Gameboy Advance, one of the top portable games, has a whole different type of games. These smaller games can be had for a lot less money than others. You will be able to stock up on Gameboy Advance games like Simpson’s Road Rage for little cash.

Of all of the game systems, the Sega Genesis consoles are among the cheapest. The Sega Genesis has interesting games, including movie tie-ins like Jurassic Park the Game and Batman Forever, that can be had for three or four dollars a piece.

The used games, as you can see, will vary depending on the scarcity and popularity of the games. Some rare games will be worth a lot of money and thus will be very expensive, but that is the exception to the rule.

Many titles, fortunately, are very low priced. If you skip buying a brand new game, you will find that you will be able to get many games for little money.
